Your Baby
It’s a boy - no wait...it’s a girl. This is the week that your baby’s primary reproductive organs will either become testes or ovaries. Even though the sex of your baby was determined at conception, the gonads took until now to become one or the other. If you’re planning on determining your baby’s sex before birth, it’s still too soon to show on an ultrasound. Even though you can’t tell the sex of your baby yet, some other visual distinctions are becoming apparent. Your baby’s face now has an upper lip, eyelids and the tip of the nose. A tiny tongue is even growing inside the mouth. The tiny little fingers and toes that you will be counting at birth have begun to form too. If you’re carrying twins, it’s possible that you may have one of each sex developing in your uterus.
Your Body
It’s probably time to start thinking about maternity clothes, as it won’t be long before your regular clothes are too uncomfortable - except for those baggy sweats. It’s hard to believe that something the size of a raspberry could make your clothes tighter, but your uterus is already the size of an orange, so things are getting a bit cramped in there. It’s possible that you may begin experiencing sciatica, which is pain or pins and needles that you feel in your legs. This is something to talk to your doctor about to find the best way to relieve the discomfort. You may feel like a teenager again if a few pimples start popping up – but this is a normal reaction to hormones and increased oily skin.
This is true! My clothes fit nicely in the morning but by the afternoon.....sweat pants where are you?
Tips
If morning sickness is making you toss not only your cookies, but your prenatal vitamins, try taking them with food at the least likely time of day for you to feel nauseous. By now you should have regular prenatal visits with your doctor, midwife, or whomever you have chosen to bring your baby into this world.
So far I'm not throwing up but I'm easily nausea. Especially by colognes. We have met with our doctor and my mom is going to be our doula.
